Thank You
Firstly a big thank you if you helped out at the 21st Illawarra Folk Festival at Bulli. We had over 140 volunteers and over 15 local billet accommodators!

Theres only 22 weeks to the next festival and its looking like the best performers lineup weve had for years! More details later.

Please note volunteer applications close earlier this year - 15 November - to give the Volunteer Team a chance to get schedules prepared and communications sent.

Please come along to a training / registration day if you can.

Thanks
David

Heres some general aims of the festival:
- 2000 Season Ticket Holders - this will take a few years I think
- present entertainment based on folk music - whatever that is!
- give an opportunity to local, national and international performers
- involve the community where we can through fundraising and involvement
- continue to be a tourism earner for the region
- have fun and a great party!
- ultimately it would be great to create some full/part time jobs to do a lot of the hard pre-work (need sponsors, ticket sales...)

Traditional Music Sessions Start
Weve started monthly traditional music sessions at the Railway Institute Hall next to Thirroul Rail Station working towards the festival.

They will be last Saturdays of each month. Dates:
Saturday 26 August
Saturday 23 September
Saturday 28 October
Saturday 25 November
Saturday 23 December
Saturday 20 January 2007

The aim is to provide an opportunity to share and learn traditional folk tunes in an informal atmosphere. There will be a number of traditional musicians in attendance to assist with this.

The tunes will generally be of Celtic, Australian origin with the odd venture into French Canada, Italy, Spain, France, Sweden, Gypsy, Cajun and any good folk tune from around the world! More details at: http://www.illawarrafolkclub.org.au/sessions.php
