2009 Festival Venues >

A folk festival is made up of a number of various sized venues and food and drink facilities. The Illawarra Folk Festival will have 11 venues including a Festival Bar, Restaurant and a central Global Green dance stage with food and markets stalls.
Eleven of the venues are within the confines of the Bulli Showground while the other venue is the Bulli Heritage Hotel.
The Bulli Showground usually hosts Greyhound and Trotting Races and has a number of facilities.

At the Showground:
1. Black Diamond (Main) Marquee – Concerts
This is a 600 seat tent and will feature all the major concerts from Friday to Sunday evening.
2. Slacky Flat Bar (Betting Ring) – Concerts
This is a building behind the Grandstand and will seat 400 persons and will form part of the Festival Bar area. It will host many of the ‘folk pub’ type performers. It will used on Thursday evening for the Welcome Concert and then from Friday evening to Sunday evening. Supported by Coopers Brewery.
3. Show Pavilion – Concerts, Workshops
This is a building behind the Grandstand and will seat 150 persons. It will be used from Friday morning to Sunday evening.
4. Festival Bar – Session area
This is the existing Grandstand Bar and is adjacent to the Betting Ring and will be the Licensed Bar area. It will hosts sessions from early to late. A number of Coopers Beers, wines, cider and soft drinks will be available.
5. Grandstand Restaurant – Concerts, Workshop
This is above the Festival Bar and will be used from Thursday evening to Sunday evening. There will be Blackboard Concerts, workshops and Folk Club type concerts. It is also the venue for the world famous Tripe Dinner and Folk Concert and Italian Lunch!
6. The Shed – Children’s Festivals
The children will be entertained in this area near the Horse Stables.
7. Nag's Lounge (Horse Stables) – Concerts, Blackboard
The southern part of the huge Horse Stables will be fitted out with lounges, decorations to create a special chill out area for intimate concerts. The other end of the Stables will have the Instrument Makers Display and market stalls. |
