Shellharbour’s own Carnegie Hall is the back porch of Mairi Petersen’s house, right on the beach, at 51 Boolwarroo Pde Shellharbour. Many great performers have strutted their stuff there. The last two were the great Peggy Seeger and Alistair Hulett and Dave Schwarbric. The great performances continue when the Chateau Petersen hosts Tasmania’s Peter Hicks. Peter can be as challenging as a Bill Henson photograph. On Sunday he teams up with fiddle maestro Ross Smithard to bring a feast of folk, original and Australian ballads, Americana style, down  home blues and old timey music combined with some left of centre  political sentiment.  A little bit Woody Guthrie, Doc Watson, and  Mississippi John Hurt and a touch of Dick Gaughan and Alistair Hulett - but a whole lot of great music and good fun. The whole thing kicks off at 2pm and we’ll even provide you with afternoon tea. At $15 it’s almost as good a deal as John Batman got when he bought Melbourne off the Aborigines for a few trinkets and some tomahawks. Come to think of it; it’s a better deal.
